Traveling Fallen Heroes Memorial returns to Patriot Park ahead of July 4th

STOYSTOWN, Pa. (WTAJ) — A traveling dog tag memorial that honors fallen soldiers returned to Patriot Park earlier this week. The Fallen Heroes Memorial, hosted by VAU Veterans and Athletes United, has over 7,000 dog tags, each one honoring a soldier who made the ultimate sacrifice in the war on terror.

This is the third time the memorial has been to Patriot Park in Stoystown.

Patriot Park Foundation sponsored the traveling memorial to come to Stoystown. Randy Musser, President of the Patriot Park Foundation, said it’s a fitting tribute. Each dog tag on the memorial is a name that’s represented by one of the flags in the Patriot Park field.

“I think when you look out over the field of 7000 Flags and you look over here, at the 7000 plus names on the memorial flag that came in, it really drives home the cost of our freedom,” Musser said.
