SOMERSET COUNTY, Pa. (WTAJ) — Thirteen flags have been added to the memorial at Patriot Park in Somerset County that honors U.S. service members killed in action since the start of the war on terror in 2001.
According to our media partners at the Tribune-Democrat, Patriot Park Foundation President Randall Musser handed 13 miniature flags to volunteers to place with the over 7,000 existing flags.
“It’s an honor to be part of it,” Brandi Darr, who placed a flag in honor of Master Sgt. Tyler Simmons, said. “Just to remember all those people who have given their lives for our freedom.”
Darr, who is related to Musser, added that it’s a great feeling to be part of the event and to honor those who have served.
